Improving knee pain (testimonial)

When Kelly came to me she had a history of three surgeries on her right knee. Three menisectomies to be specific. She believes she had issues with her ACL (some of the surgeries were a long time ago) but a full reconstruction wasn’t done. Even after the surgeries she had some bone spurs and osteoarthritis.

I remember when she first walked up to introduce herself and thinking, “This is going to be a challenge.” She couldn’t move without limping. Her knee was fubard.

Since then she’s been able to squat holding about 40 pounds, do some lunges, and a bunch of other stuff. It’s been great to see her progress.

Kelly has been one of my favorite clients lately as she thoroughly enjoys hearing about my weekend shenanigans, of which there are many. And we both share an affinity for Vancouver women.

Despite the fact she will soon be moving to the Vancouver area and leaving me I was pretty delighted when she came in recently and told me this,

“I really don’t want to inflate your ego any more…but during my visit to Canada it was amazing how well my knee did. I was able to walk through snow, mud, loose rock, uphill, downhill, you name it and I felt so much better doing it.

It’s the first time since 2007 I felt that much confidence in my knee.”

I always enjoy the context of these quotes more than anything the person could do in the gym. After all, the whole reason for this is to improve the person’s life and in many ways make their life easier. The goal is not how much they deadlift.

Kelly and I.

Best of luck in Canada Kelly! (Read: I hate you for leaving me and I’m insanely jealous you will be surrounded by Vancouver females.)
