Short of brilliant. Looking forward to seeing how Joe fairs in his exercise correction

Thank you for this. Looking forward to more. Since my hips are out of line with the (probably too-short) rod in my femur for three years now, I am truly struggling with my upper back and shoulders.

Thank you Barbara.
As an aside, the movement issue I go over with Joe here -the humeral superior glide that is- is less common than some other things. Especially for women, depressed shoulders tend to be a big priority. And then anterior glide is definitely more common than superior. Just some FYIs for you.

interesting! about 4 months ago I had an allograft to my humeral head and the surgeon had to partially cut through the subscap attachment to pop the humerus out. My shoulder now has a similar movement pattern as Joe. If I try to bring my hands to my chest and lift my elbows out to the side at shoulder height the surgery elbow drops and the shoulder wants to medially rotate a bit and pop up like Joes. Doing the sleeper stretch a lot and PT stretching, next week adding in some ART. Curious what you will be doing with him!

Hey JT,
Not to be a downer, but I wouldn’t be doing the sleeper stretch, or much conventional stretching at all. I’m assuming you’ve been told to loosen up your posterior capsule? “Loosening up” an area isn’t going to get the job done here. Unless you have an incredibly stiff shoulder from surgery, you likely don’t need anything of this nature. At the very least, some conventional stretching would be a small part of what you would want to be working on.
Unless you have some great ART being done, probably not worth the time and money either.
The thing you need to be, and the thing Joe will be, working on is moving the arm without the humeral head gliding superiorly. You can stretch or rub all you want, but that doesn’t mean when you move your arm the glide will not be there. Joe will literally be working on the movement in that video. (Amongst other things.) Such as this:
The beauty of this is when the humeral head doesn’t superiorly glide, or anteriorly glide, then you loosen up the inferior and posterior capsules! (If that’s even needed.)
