I recently started with someone who just had a partial meniscectomy knee surgery. She was feeling pretty down about things. To lift her spirits some I wanted to show her an example of what can still be accomplished after a surgery like this.
I’ve profiled Mike before. He had a bucket handle meniscus tear which caused his knee to lock up on him, where he couldn’t straighten it. Eventually he had an arthroscopy to cut the torn part of the meniscus out. After doing some rehab on his own he came and saw me. He was still having significant issues with his range of motion. Mainly the ability to straighten his knee. We got that sorted.
After feeling good for about a year, he wanted to start training for a bike ride from Colorado to New York City. Pretty much cross country. We spent four months training for that, and here he his:
I profiled this achievement back in November. Six months after this, bringing us to about now, his knee still feeling great, I decided to push him on some things. And here we go:
Can you even tell which knee it was?
That was done immediately after a set of 20 reps on the leg press. (Fun / miserable thing to do to someone: Get an area pumped from a lift, then have them do something fast like jumping. Burn city!)
Quite a bit can be done after a knee surgery like this. Mike is in his 50s doing these things! But quite a bit of time and work likely needs to go into it. Mike’s no slouch.
Look into becoming a client like Mike.
